Croton

Overview

Houseplant with large leathery leaves that are colorful and variegated. It's tropical so it prefers higher humidity.

Water

Houseplant Crotons should only be watered when the top of the soil is dry to the touch.

Light

Croton plants develop their best colors when grown in bright light. As houseplants, they must be in a sunny window. They will tolerate medium light indoors, but won't keep vibrant colors.

Soil

Crotons like a mild acidity and can tolerate a soil pH between 4.5 and 6.5. They're heavy feeders, so rich, organic-laden soil is best, although choosing to apply mulch or a Croton fertilizer would also help.
