Overview

It's a perennial herbaceous plant with straight stem, simple and alternate leaves containing white spots. A popular houseplant because of its tolerance of shade.

Water

Water your Dieffenbachia regularly, but not too often. Once per week or once every two weeks is usually the right time to water your plant.

Light

Likes diffused sunlight or partial shade, but will tolerate full shade, which is why it is well-suited as a houseplant. It thrives in temperatures between 60 and 75°F.

Soil

  • 1 part peat or humus.

  • 1 part garden soil.

  • 1 part perlite or coarse sand.

  • 1 pinch of lime

Prefers fertile, well-drained potting soil with a high peat content.
