Overview
A variety of Ficus elastica, the rubber tree—a species of evergreen tropical tree native to east and southeast Asia. These belong to the fig family, Moraceae.
Water
In the summer, keep consistently moist but never soggy. Water when the top 50%-75% of the soil is dry.
Light
Requires bright indirect light but avoid a super sunny spot to avoid scorching.
Soil
The best mix for a burgundy rubber ficus consists of one part pine bark and one part coarse sand or perlite. Rubber trees grow at a relatively fast rate. Every few years, in the early to late summer, repotting is a good idea.
